Experience the rich flavours of Uganda Bugisu Coffee Beans. Bugisu is a region in eastern Uganda, known for coffee growing in Uganda. The coffee here is grown at moderately high elevations (1,300 to 2,600 meters) on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
Ugandan Bugisu coffee has more body than most other East African coffees and low acidity. Smooth and full-bodied with a citric, fruity, and refreshing acidity and chocolaty notes, Uganda Bugisu coffee beans are a delight for any coffee fan.
The Region
Mount Elgon is a mountain with volcanic origin that lies in the eastern part of Uganda. It is believed that Mount Elgon was once the highest mountain in Africa. The locals believe that god lives on Mount Elgon, far above the height that people can reach through climbing.
The ancient hillsides consist of primary forest, streams, rivers, and waterfalls. The region is lush and green, making it an ideal environment for coffee growing in Uganda.
The coffee farmers of the Bagisu tribe, who live in the region, have established their reputation producing one of Uganda's best arabica coffees with their Bugisu Washed Arabica.
Rainforest Alliance Certified.
